One-hour volunteerism campaign in Namibia
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) recently initiated the "One Hour for Development Campaign" to create a platform for staff, officials and volunteers (subscribers) to contribute towards national development--including MDGs--using the volunteerism modality.
The subscribers (as they are called in the brochure) can commit themselves to give at least one hour of their spare time per month to volunteer towards any national development programme of their choice. While there is no limit on the nature of activities that they can take on, most of the initiatives contribute towards reaching Namibia's Vision 2030 and other national development priorities.
This project is not entirely limited to UNDP and UNV. Anyone can join and work towards making a difference.
